Located in the picturesque harbour town of Ullapool, Delicasea Fish & Chips offers a quintessential British takeaway experience with a maritime twist. Specializing in traditional fish and chips, this charming spot elevates the humble takeaway into a culinary delight that captures the essence of fresh, locally sourced seafood expertly cooked to perfection.
The highlight, naturally, is their iconic fish and chips—a crisply battered, golden fillet paired with perfectly cooked, fluffy chips. Customers consistently praise the batter's lightness and crisp texture, never oily or heavy, creating that ideal balance of crunch and moist, flaky fish inside. For those seeking heartier fare, the lunch menu features comforting homemade classics like the Soup of the Day and the famously rich Cullen Skink, a creamy smoked haddock chowder that feels like a warm hug on a chilly Highland day.
Delicasea’s seafood sandwiches, such as the Tuna Mayo with Dill Mustard, deliver freshness and a subtle herbaceous zing that complements the rich fish perfectly. Complementing these are their carefully curated drink options—from steaming pots of tea and robust filter coffee to refreshing soft drinks and sparkling waters—ensuring every meal is well rounded.
Dining here isn’t just about the food; it’s about the experience. Many customers have fondly remarked on enjoying their meals while gazing over the tranquil harbour, enhancing the whole sensory experience with stunning views and a relaxed atmosphere. Whether grabbing a quick bite or settling in at the dog-friendly eating area, guests feel welcomed by friendly, efficient staff who keep things moving even during busy spells.
The menu’s diversity extends beyond fish and chips, with intriguing options like deep-fried haggis and white pudding, all generously portioned and crafted fresh with care. Even seafood fans will find delight in the mussels cooked in cider, hailed by patrons as some of the best around.
While the only minor point of contention noted was a small charge for ketchup packets, the overall consensus remains overwhelmingly positive. Prices are reasonable considering the quality and portions, and many visitors have made Delicasea a must-stop tradition when passing through Ullapool, especially for those exploring the breathtaking North Coast 500 route.
In sum, Delicasea Fish & Chips is a memorable destination for seafood lovers and casual diners alike—offering authentic flavours, impeccable freshness, and a genuine taste of the Scottish coast, all served with warmth and care. Whether you’re craving an iconic fish supper or a filling soup combo, this local gem promises to delight your taste buds and make your visit to Ullapool truly special.

A must-stop in Ullapool! We’ve had the pleasure of grabbing a Friday night fish supper from Deli-Ca-Sea more than once now, and it never disappoints. The fish is always fresh, the batter light and crispy, and the chips are spot on. Staff are friendly and service is quick, even when they’re busy. It’s become a bit of a tradition for us when we're up north. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and craving proper fish and chips!

Really nice Chippy Got the pizza crush and it was excellent! Also tried the chips and deep fried Haggis, all were really good with a decent portion size! Did have to wait a little for things to be made fresh but definitely worth the wait!

Fish and chips were hands down the best me and my partner have ever had. All staff let on and were very friendly and accommodating. Popped in following a stop of on our NC500 tour. We paid £50 for 2 medium haddock and chips, a battered haggis, battered white pudding. Two curry sauces, peas, cheese and two beers. We initially felt this was a little pricier than we are used to however, after eating the food we were blown away and felt it was more than worth what we paid. It wasn't as straight forward to find as expected, as Google maps says it's further down the road than it actually is. Would highly recommend.

We stopped by Delicasea near the Ullapool ferry terminal and really enjoyed the burgers—they were delicious and well cooked. The spicy chicken strips were a highlight, with a great herb flavor that made them stand out. The chips, however, didn’t quite live up to the hype and were a bit disappointing. Also, we were surprised to see a 40p charge per ketchup packet, which felt a bit unexpected. Overall, a good spot for a quick meal, especially if you’re craving tasty burgers and chicken strips.
